This is my girl Soukeyna, an amazing vocalist from Oakland who writes and sings in Portuguese, French, Wolof, and English. Her songs are so unique and beautiful, and I’ve been so honored to know and work with such a fresh, world-class artist. We brought Jason Bodlovich in for his beautiful bossa nova guitar arrangements, funky electric on Waxhale, and drum kit and percussion (including his cuica alter-ego). Uriah Duffy came through on the bass for Waxhale, and Taylor Cutcomb stroked the upright on Quando Voce Chega. It wouldn’t be the same without Alex Cathayud’s pandeiro and tambourin. Such a great project – and there’s so much more where that came from!
In addition to producing, mixing, arranging, instruments, and everything else that went into this EP, I also designed the art! Limited Edition CDs in digipacks available soon.
